Request for Time off During Term Time

Application by parent/carer for child's leave of absence from school during term time.

Department for Education Guidance:

Government Guidance advises that schools should not authorise requests for term time absence unless the school has received suitable evidence of exceptional circumstances. They do not consider a family holiday to be an exceptional circumstance and schools are no longer allowed to authorise holidays in term time.

If an application for time off during term time for a family holiday is refused and you still take your child out of school, the absence will be treated as unauthorised and could result in you receiving a penalty notice.
