Woodlands School

How We Share Information

At Woodlands School we are able to use Newsletters, Arbor, Tapestry, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to communicate school news, updates, reminders, invites to events and other important information! We understand the importance of working in partnership with the families of our children to ensure that each child receives the best education that the school can offer. This system will help us to keep you informed at all times so that together we can offer the best support for your child.

Parents/carers will be notified via Arbor's messaging service regarding any main school closures, event reminders and emergency contacts etc. Please be assured this service is FREE.

Please note this system is only effective if parents/carers ensure their numbers and e-mail addresses are up to date on Arbor.

If you register to Arbor, but do not receive any texts or e-mails, please let the school office know.

Arbor

We are excited to announce that we have recently migrated to Arbor.

Adopting Arbor will allow us to communicate with you more efficiently and bring all core school data and workflows into one system.

We are really looking forward to getting started with Arbor and invite all our parents to familiarise themselves: Getting Started with Arbor

Arbor also offers access to many training resources which are completely free for you to make the most of! These can all be found here: Arbor Training Resources for Parents

We have set up your Arbor account, however to finish creating your account you just need to set a password. Your username is your email address.

Please click here: Log in to Arbor and click Forgot your password? to finish setting up your account.

Once you're logged on, please can you check that all your contact details are correct and up to date. If there's anything that needs changing, you should be able to edit this yourself.

If you have any queries, please contact the school office.

Tapestry Journal

We use Tapestry as a home school diary. Teachers will update you with photos, videos and observations of the whole class or just your child.

Just to let you know that if you are using Tapestry on your phone or tablet, there is a Tapestry app which you can download which is very easy to use. Just search for the name “Tapestry mobile” with the Tapestry logo in your App store.

Once logged in, you will see your child’s observations on your home screen in a list – selecting any one of these will open up the observation for you to look at. You are able to “like” or add comments in the box at the bottom of the observation if you would like to – and we love to receive comments!

We would also love to see your contributions too. It is easy to add your own photos or observations to your child’s journal. Choose the ‘Add Observation’ option (or the ‘plus’ icon if using the app ) and add the relevant information in the boxes on screen. Photos and videos may be uploaded by choosing the ‘add media’ option. (videos have to be less than one minute long). When you have saved your observation, you may go back to the home screen at any time by choosing ‘home’. The observation will say “not in journal” until a member of staff has approved it.

If you are responding to a group message the system will let you know that everyone in the group can see your response.

This link will show you how to add an Observation: How to Add an Observation on Tapestry

We will send you a link to sign up to Tapestry when your child starts school.

Please click here: Log in to Tapestry to log in to your Tapestry account.

Pupil Progress Meetings

You will receive an invite to come in to school and discuss your child's progress with their class teacher every term. The invites are sent out via Arbor. This is an opportunity to see your child's work and to share ideas about how you can support their learning at home.

Please click here to complete a booking form to let us know what time(s) you are able to meet your child's class teacher. We will do our best to accommodate your request and will send out confirmation.

Annual Reviews

Your child's statement or Educational Health and Care Plan is reviewed every year to make sure that that it is correct and still meets their needs. The reviews are held in school and invites are sent out at least 4 weeks in advance. We also invite other people involved with your child to the review; this can include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and respite providers. Please let us know if there is anyone else who works or lives with your child who you think it would be beneficial to invite.

The meeting is also an opportunity for us to share information we use in school to support your child, this can include One Page Profiles, Personal Care Plans, Behaviour Support Plans, Feeding Plans, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans and Moving and Handling Plans.

Termly Updates

You will be invited in to school at least termly to take part in training, be involved in a class activity and/or for special assemblies or events.
